William Herrod

September 1, 1930 — February 24, 2021

Mr. William E. "Bill" Herrod of Selma, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Bill was born in Autauga County, Alabama on September 1, 1930 to the late Henry Grady Herrod and the late Lula Gandy Herrod.

He was a retired auto mechanic teacher for Selma High School.

He is survived by his children, Steve (Alice) Herrod of Marietta, GA, Larry (Retha) Herrod of Selma, Bridget Herrod (Brian) Wheaton of Puebla, Mexico, and Demisha Herrod (Bubba) Stough of Selma; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel Pigg Herrod; and siblings, H.G. Herrod, Tom Herrod, Doris Buckley, and Frances Pendarvis.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande with Dr. Jerry Henry officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at Selma Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Bill's caregivers, Clarence Gresham, Estelle Thomas, LaShaundra Clay, and Miss Princess Anderson, for the kindness, compassion, and friendship they have shown.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Stough, Clarence Gresham, Jeffrey Herrod, Bubba Stough, Jeremy DeRamus, Jackson Torrance and David Johnson.

Final care and arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to the care of Selma Funeral Home.
