William Beekman Henderson was born in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Edgewood School as a child. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1961 with a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After college, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Springfield for two years.
Bill started his career with Genesco in Nashville, Tennessee, where he met his wife, Sarah. He left Genesco and moved to Dothan, Alabama to work for Ansell, Inc. During his 25-year career, he traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. He retired from Ansell as VP of Manufacturing, and managed his family's business in Dallas County, Alabama, while working part-time in Dothan.
He was a member of the Dothan Rotary Club and a lifelong fan of Alabama football. He was dedicated to lay service in the Episcopal Church, where he served in varying leadership capacities for more than 40 years for the Episcopal Church of the Nativity (Dothan) before moving to Huntsville. Upon moving to Huntsville, he and Sarah joined the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville. He was also a member of the genealogical society, The Society of the Cincinnati, South Carolina Chapter.
