Troy Stokes, Sr.

Troy O. Stokes, Sr. age 84 of Valley Grande, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma. He was born July 5, 1935 in Mississippi to the late Everett Stokes and the late Hilda Nichols Stokes.
He was a retired Lieutenant with the Selma Police Department after 27 1/2 years of service and he also served as a Sheriff's Deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department and he served his country in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Judy Stokes; children, Charles Mills, Joseph Mills, and Jennifer Mills; grandchildren, Jamie Mills, Christopher Cochran, Courtney Mitchell, Maria Tulley, Amber Stokes, Reagan Stokes, Savannah Stokes, Alex Stokes, and Lilliefair Mills; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Yarbrough; and sister-in-law, Dottie (Dick) Page.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hilda Stokes; son, Troy O. Stokes, Jr.; and brothers, Tommy E. Stokes and Joe Ed Stokes.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday between the hours of Noon and 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday between the hours of 8:30 and 5:00 p.m..
A private family service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Dallas County Sheriff's Department.
