Rev. George Karlton Jones, Sr. age 83 of Selma, passed on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville, Indiana. He was born May 8, 1937 in Selma to the late William Bonner Jones and the late Nellene Maxwell Jones.
Brother George loved the Lord, his bride of 50 years, Faye, his family, friends, and Alabama football. He was a retired Southern Baptist Pastor where he served the Lord in ministry for over 50 years in Alabama, Missouri, and Georgia. He was also a former co-owner of Selma Funeral Home, where he spent his time after retiring from the ministry.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia (Ronald) Epperson, Kimberly (Mike) Burk, and Alan (Kristi) Jones; daughter-in-law, Amy P. Jones; grandchildren, Melise (Andy) Bain, Jennifer Dominy, Christopher (Lisa) Dominy, Amanda (Jacob) Herring, Haley Burk, Aaron Jones, Chance Tierce, Luke Jones, and Sydney Jones; great-grandchildren: Ethan Bain, Peyton Bain, Evan Bain, Mackenzie Dominy, Braden Dominy, Adley Herring, Waylon Herring, and Cohen Jones; sister, Grace Jones Middleton; a brother-in-law and and sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Renshaw Jones; son, George K. "Karl" Jones, Jr.; parents, William Bonner Jones and Nellene Maxwell Jones; twin brother, Bill Jones; and sister, Nell Jones Vaughn.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm in Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Selma Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Accelerate Parkinson's Research Foundation or the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
