Dovie Mae Battles Wells "Nanny" of Selma, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama at the age of 95.

She was born August 19, 1928 to the late Mr. & Mrs. P.C. Battles.

She was a former special education teacher's aide. 

"Nanny," as she was affectionately known to eveyone had a true and genuine love for her family. She found pure delight in the beauty of God's creation. Her love for the birds of the air, the flowers of the field, and working the soil in her hands was a true testament to who she really was as a believer in Jesus Christ. 

She leaves behind a legacy of love for family, including her children, Harold E. Wells, Jr. (Margaret), Carnis Wells Ellis (Danny), Mary McKay Vann (Gordon); grandchildren, Bryan Wells (Stacie), Justin Hoppe (LaKesia), Benjie Wells (Jennifer), and Jason McKay (Lauren); and her 7 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Harold E. Wells, Sr.; and numerous siblings. 

A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Selma with the Rev. Michael Perry officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande, Alabama. 

Pallbearers will be Bryan Wells, Justin Hoppe, Benji Wells, Sawyer Wells, Jason McKay, Matt Wells, Gabe Hoppe, and Justin Hoppe, Jr..

Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Danny Ellis and Gordon Vann.

The family will recieve friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church.
