Barbara Dickinson Blagg, loving wife, mother, and friend, passed away on October 11th, 2023 in Dothan, Alabama.

Barbara Blagg was born on October 27th, 1933 in Grove Hill, Alabama.  She attended Prattville High School.  She loved supporting her school as cheerleader and through other clubs and activities.  She attended the University of Montevallo where she was named college favorite in her college yearbook.  Barbara was also chosen to represent Clarke County and Grove Hill as Maid of Cotton in 1952. She began working for Stockham Valves in Birmingham, which is where she met her future husband. She married Herman Morris Blagg in November of 1955 and they raised their family in Selma, Alabama.  Barbara loved being a mom and grandma and was an amazing cook and baker, constantly sharing her cakes and sweets with friends and family.  Her life was one of selfless giving, and she was always looking for ways to serve others and make their lives better.  In addition to cooking, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cheering on family members involved in sports and her Auburn Tigers. She loved decorating her home for holidays, and enjoyed celebrating achievements big and small in her children’s lives.

Later in life, Barbara worked for Cougar Oil Company, and finished her work career at the Methodist Children’s Home in Selma.  She retired in 2001 and moved to Dothan, Alabama where she enjoyed her retired life of gardening, baking, and playing with her granddaughters Chelsea, Ashley, and Elizabeth.  In Dothan, she was an active member of Pathway Baptist Church. She made many friends in Dothan including her special friend Neal Rumble and his daughter Anne.

Barbara was a beautiful spirit, with a loving and caring heart.  She will always be remembered for her kindness, smile, love for life, and giving heart.  She passed peacefully with her children by her side.

Barbara is survived by her three children, William Lee Blagg of Jacksonville, Florida, Beverly Blagg Prince (Doug) of Wetumpka, Alabama, and Steven Connor Blagg (Sandy) of Dacula, Georgia. She loved and adored her three grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashley, and Elizabeth. Her granddaughters will always cherish the special bond and memories they share.
