Roger Allen Seymore age 68 of Shalimar, Florida and formerly of Selma passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Selma on September 1, 1953 to the late John Allen Seymore and the late Nell Godwin Seymore.
Roger was born and raised in Selma and was a graduate of Dallas County High School. He followed his father in the field of construction, building numerous schools and buildings in the area. In 1986 he and his family moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he continued in construction and retired from the Building Inspection Department of the Madison County Commission as an inspector in 2015. In 2017 he and his wife, Phyllis, moved to Florida to be near their son Chris. Roger loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many activities such as being on the water, hunting and fishing. He also obtained his private pilot license and spent many hours flying for fun. When they moved to Florida, Roger's new passion was saltwater fishing. He and his family spent many days together learning the secrets of fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Phyllis Webster Seymore; his son, Chris Seymore; and his sister, Gloria Seymore (Jim) Harrington. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ruth Webster; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Norman) Bierd and Brenda (Dennis) Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Nell (Godwin) Seymore.
Roger will be laid to rest at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande, AL.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Selma Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
The family would like to thank everyone for all of the love and friendship that you have given them during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you hug your family and do something together to make a memory.
