Upon her passing a grandchild commented gratefully how he would never forget her servant's heart. For years she served so well as the head nurse on 2E at Vaughan Memorial Hospital that once stood on Dallas Avenue. She also served as the infirmary nurse at Marion Institute for a time. Many times we heard compliments of her being the sweetest and best nurse.
We remember how she quietly and lovingly served us at home, always doing for us without our asking and expecting nothing in return, being our nurse too, preparing the most wonderful meals that brought us together, always making sacrifices and loving us unconditionally. She was a devoted wife for 66 years, a loving mother and the best, sweetest grandmother ever to her nine grandchildren who were blessed to call her Mawmaw.
The family would like to thank the heroes at Park Place and the compassionate Southern Care Hospice team, who cared for her especially during this COVID-19 crisis. We would also like to thank the two ladies, Barbara Bryant and Annie Robertson, who lovingly cared for her during her last years at home. We will forever be grateful to them all.
We appreciate anyone who wishes to attend her service, but please remember a mask is required.
